In my 4th attempt, I was finally accepted as a writer in the Crow’s Feet: Life As We Age publication.

It made me feel very accomplished and super happy.

Let’s see why.

What happened?

Yesterday, for the 4th time, I sent a request to be added to Crow’s Feet, along with a poem I wanted to publish there.

This morning, when I checked my email, there it was —

I think this poem is a good fit for Crow’s Feet: Life As We Age.

I will add you as a writer.

Welcome aboard!

My 4th submission, in over 4 months, finally made the cut.

And I am elated.

Here is my poem that finally made me eligible:

Not That Good

It is a reflection about how I have let my self-doubts over-power me, and why I am finally breaking free. And it’s a wish for everyone — that you may realize your potential before it is too late.

Why this excitement?

Apparently, there are a few different reasons why I feel so good — including the Scarcity Effect (people place a higher value on an object that is scarce).

In my case, I think what played an important role in my gratification was that being rejected so many times gave me a sense of trust that this publication only accepts really good submissions.

So, when mine was finally accepted, it made me feel like I was one of the “few good writers” who get accepted. I love the kind of stories that Crow’s Feet publishes, and my story will be a part of this amazing collection.

Getting accepted also showed me, once again, that with hard work and perseverance, I can achieve what I want to. I did not give up after 1, 2 or 3 attempts.

I kept writing, I kept looking into what works for this publication, and most importantly,

I did not let rejection discourage me.

Also, simply pursuing something difficult for long creates an emotional connection to the outcome. This achievement was emotional for me!

So what next?

I’ve been writing in some very good publications, and with today’s achievement, I hope I can reach even more readers.

Crow’s Feet shares the experiences of many people who have lived long, meaningful lives, and provides a hope for our old age. It will be quite an experience to see what the readers of this publication say about my own writings.

Good luck to me 😊
